The former football greats – Soh Chin Aun, Santokh Singh and James Wong – will be speaking at its global forum on “The International Public Employment Forum 2021: Reviving, Realigning and Rebuilding the Labour Market”.
A spokesman for the organisers said the onset of the pandemic brought a wave of suffering to the world in many aspects where economic activities have been hampered significantly and the individual’s ability to remain employed as well as sustain a living are negatively impacted.
“These three players went through much hardship in the rise and fall of the Malaysian team and had the right fighting spirit which made them reach two Olympic Games, so their personal stories can encourage Malaysians especially during this difficult moment,” he said.
Besides the trio, the forum will feature prominent speakers from the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and various labour market institutions on best practices in policies pertaining to employment.
In Malaysia, Socso has stretched its mission of providing social security protection through the Employment Insurance Services (EIS) in collaboration with various ministries and agencies.
“We are working with thousands of people who have lost their jobs and sources of income. As part of this mission, this is an added effort to bring people from all over the world through one platform,” it said.
Socso said the event on Sept 6-9 will feature programmes which include the “Return to Work Digimos Symposium” for disability management practitioners across Southeast Asia and the “Public Employment Services Symposium” which features various aspects of the businesses and individuals and how they survived during the pandemic.
It will feature experts in the labour market, mental and health sectors and the economic field which have been battered by Covid-19.
The forum will end with a Career Expo where 10,000 employment opportunities will be made available for job seekers who are seeking employment opportunities.
It is open to all with no charge. Those interested may register here.
