Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob told the Dewan Rakyat that the Bersatu deputy president, who was appointed on Aug 5 and whose tenure ended with Muhyiddin’s resignation on Aug 16, was only paid a pro-rated amount for the 11 days he had served in the position.
However, he added that Faizal also received a payment of one month’s salary in lieu of notice.
He was responding to a question by Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong), who asked Ismail how much Faizal received as the former minister-level adviser.
The Kepong MP had also asked how much monthly pension was Faizal entitled to, and what was his exact role under the Muhyiddin administration.
In a written reply, Ismail told the Dewan Rakyat that Faizal would not be entitled to any pension as it did not come with the particular position.
On his tasks, Ismail said Faizal was tasked with advising the former prime minister on matters involving engagement with the community.
“He was responsible for establishing a close working relationship between the government and community leaders, as well as raising the rakyat’s awareness about government policies through effective communication channels, and also improving the government’s distribution systems with respect to the rakyat’s socio-economic development.”
