PETALING JAYA:
Azalina Othman Said (BN-Pengerang) today slammed Putrajaya for the delay in the setting up of special courts to deal with sexual crimes against children, although this had been agreed before 2018.

She said that when she was the minister in the prime minister’s department before GE14, she had been in charge of the matter and the government had agreed to set up such courts in every state.

“But until today, it is not done,” she said.

“If you just want to be a minister and cannot even settle this, then don’t be a minister,” she said when debating the 12th Malaysia Plan in the Dewan Rakyat.

Azalina said children are now required to go to courts every now and then and due to that, special courts and rooms are needed to focus on the young victims.

She said children continue to be victims despite having their parents, siblings and grandparents at home with them.
