9,380 Covid-19 cases, 13,045 recoveries

There are 851 patients being treated in intensive care and 447 needing respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 9,380 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 13,045 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,144,681.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,303,837.

There were 851 patients in intensive care, 800 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 51 suspected of being infected.

Meanwhile, 447 patients required respiratory assistance, with 348 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 99 suspected of being positive.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 1,503.

This was followed by Kelantan (1,170), Selangor (1,116), Johor (1,105), Sabah (790), Terengganu (704), Perak (629), Penang (623), Kedah (556), Pahang (511), Kuala Lumpur (214), Melaka (200), Negeri Sembilan (191), Perlis (42), Putrajaya (18) and Labuan (8).

There were 9,367 local infections today, involving 8,755 Malaysians and 612 foreigners, and 13 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.9% of the patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

He added that the country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought) now stood at 0.87, with Perlis and Melaka having the highest R-nought level of 1.03 and 1.00, respectively.

All other states and the federal territories recorded R-noughts of less than 1.0 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero.
