
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,372 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,385,339.
Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,481,339.
There were 557 patients in intensive care, 498 of whom were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive and 59 suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 300 patients required respiratory assistance, with 207 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 93 suspected to be positive.
There were 5,056 local infections today, comprising 4,815 Malaysians and 241 foreigners, and 15 imported cases.
Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 2.4% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.96, with Putrajaya having the highest R0 level of 1.06.
