4,543 Covid-19 cases, 7,348 recoveries

This brings the total number of infections to 2,510,852.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,543 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,510,852.

He said there were 7,348 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,419,743.

There are 534 patients being treated in intensive care, 529 of whom were confirmed and five suspected to be Covid-19 positive.

Meanwhile, 263 patients required respiratory assistance, with 205 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 58 suspected of being positive.

There were 4,528 local infections today, comprising 4,339 Malaysians and 189 foreigners. There were also 15 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 2.5% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.92, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level at 1.03. This was followed by Kuala Lumpur with an R-nought of 1.

Meanwhile, the ministry revealed there was a 13.1% drop in new Covid-19 cases between Oct 31 and Nov 6.

The number of cases fell to 35,303 from 40,613 during the said period.

There was also a 7% drop in active cases to 65,573 from 70,829 recorded in the previous epidemiological week.

However, there was a slight increase of 2% in the number of patients with 516 in intensive care.

The ministry also reported a daily drop in the infectivity rate.

Noor Hisham said four states, namely Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Selangor showed an increase in the number of Category 3 to 5 patients warded at hospitals between the 42nd epidemiological week and 44th epidemiological week.
