
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 6,026 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,441,485.
In a statement, he said the total number of infections now stands at 2,535,338.
There are 544 patients in intensive care, 485 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 59 suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 269 patients required respiratory assistance, with 194 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 75 suspected of being positive.
There were 6,501 local infections today, involving 6,214 Malaysians and 287 foreigners, and 16 imported cases.
Of these, only 1,9% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) stands at 1.0, with Putrajaya having the highest R0 level of 1.16.
This is followed by Kuala Lumpur (1.04), Selangor (1.03), Kelantan (1.02), Negeri Sembilan (1.01) and Pahang (1.01).
The other states have recorded R0 levels of less than 1.0 while Labuan has a rate of zero.
