
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,551,452.
In a statement, he said there were 4,551 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,455,767.
There are 526 patients being treated in intensive care, 474 of whom are confirmed and 52 suspected to be Covid-19 positive.
Meanwhile, 250 patients require respiratory assistance, with 192 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 58 suspected of being positive.
There were 5,130 local infections today, comprising 4,923 Malaysians and 207 foreigners, as well as 13 imported cases.
Of the new infections, only 2.4% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.
Noor Hisham said Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) stood at 1.05, with Putrajaya having the highest level with 1.20.
Other states with an R0 level higher than 1.00 are Kuala Lumpur (1.05), Selangor (1.04), Negeri Sembilan and Pahang (1.02) and Kelantan (1.01).
