KUALA LUMPUR:
A special weekend and public holiday all-day travel pass costing RM15 for a group of four to travel using Rapid KL services in the Klang Valley has been launched.

Under the Pas Keluarga Malaysia introduced by Prasarana, the group can use the pass in any of its services including Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transport (MRT), Monorail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). They can be used for leisure or to visit tourist attractions along the routes.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it enables four people in a group to enjoy one-day unlimited rides on Saturdays, Sundays or any public holiday.

“This means that each person only pays RM3.75 to use rail and bus services operated by Rapid KL all day long.

“This initiative is aimed at encouraging Malaysian families to go out and spend quality time with their loved ones. They can go to the malls or just visit the many tourist attractions along the network in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” he said when launching the travel pass here today.

Ismail also said convenient, efficient and interconnected public transport was vital for the people’s mobility.

“Public transport plays an important role in ensuring the success of Keluarga Malaysia because apart from being a tool for national unity, it also spurs economic growth,” he said.

The prime minister also announced the Transit Package for Small and Medium Enterprise owners, which will be implemented by Prasarana from March. This project will allow small and medium entrepreneurs to conduct business at eight LRT stations along the Kelana Jaya line.

The stations are Subang Alam, Alam Sutera, Putra Heights, Puchong Industrial Park, Awan Besar, IOI Puchong Jaya, Plaza Rakyat and SS18.

“Under the package, 20 retail spaces, each measuring 80 sq ft to 400 sq ft, will be offered to the SME owners through drawing of lots,” he said.

The successful applicants will also enjoy a special rental structure for a year, including a three-month rental exemption. The details will be announced by the company soon.
