
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stood at 2,602,835 cases.
In a statement, he said 5,082 patients had recovered, while 506 patients remained in intensive care, 426 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 80 suspected of being infected.
A total of 270 patients require respiratory assistance, with 158 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 112 suspected of being positive.
There were 5,732 local infections today, involving 5,501 Malaysians and 231 foreigners, and 24 imported cases.
Of these, only 1.8% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
Noor Hisham also said there were eight clusters reported today.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0, pronounced R-nought) stood at 1.00, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level of 1.14.
This was followed by Selangor (1.06), Johor (1.05), Kuala Lumpur (1.04), Pahang (1.04), Kedah (1.04), Perak (1.03), Kelantan (1.01), Negeri Sembilan (1.01), Penang (1.01) and Sabah (1.00).
The remaining states and federal territory recorded R-nought levels below 1.00.
