6,144 new Covid-19 cases, 7 clusters

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the total number of Covid-19 cases now is 2,608,979 cases.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 6,144 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, an increase from the 5,755 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,608,979.

In a statement, he said 6,602 patients had recovered, while 516 patients remain in intensive care, 443 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 73 suspected of being infected.

A total of 272 patients require respiratory assistance, with 157 being Covid-19 positive and the remaining 115 suspected of being positive.

There were 6,132 local infections today, involving 5,862 Malaysians and 270 foreigners, and 12 imported cases.

Of these, only 1.6% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were seven clusters reported today.
