4,087 new Covid-19 cases, 7 clusters

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says 4,984 patients have recovered.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,087 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, down from the 4,239 cases yesterday.

This is also the lowest number of cases in a day since the 3,780 infections reported on May 16.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,627,903 cases.

He said 4,984 patients had recovered, while 507 patients remain in intensive care, 401 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 106 suspected of being infected.

Another 272 patients require respiratory assistance, with 175 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 97 suspected of being positive.

There were 4,066 local infections today, involving 3,846 Malaysians and 220 foreigners, and 21 imported cases.

Of these, only 1.8% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the point of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were seven clusters reported today.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate, or R0, stood at 0.96, with Labuan having the highest R0 level of 1.12.

This was followed by Kedah (1.02) and Pahang (1.01). The other states and federal territories recorded R0 levels of 1.00 or lower.
