5,439 Covid-19 cases, 6 clusters

The total number of infections now stands at 2,638,221.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 5,439 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, an increase from the 4,897 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,638,221 cases.

He said 6,803 patients had recovered, while 500 patients remain in intensive care, 400 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 100 suspected of being infected.

A total of 258 patients required respiratory assistance, with 161 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 97 suspected of being positive.

There were 5,418 local infections today, involving 5,229 Malaysians and 189 foreigners, and 21 imported cases.

Of these, only 1.9% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were six clusters reported today.
