
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,764,354.
He said 3,291 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,692,216.
Meanwhile, 284 patients remain in intensive care, 191 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 93 suspected of being infected; 156 patients require respiratory assistance, with 82 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 74 suspected of being positive.
There were 2,549 local infections today, comprising 2,478 Malaysians and 71 foreigners. There were also 333 imported cases.
Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.7 % were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.
He also said one new cluster was reported today.
