2,888 new Covid-19 cases, 1 cluster detected

Health DG says 2,714 patients have recovered, while 248 remain in intensive care.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 2,888 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,786,219.

He said 2,714 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,714,614. However, 248 patients remain in intensive care, 206 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 42 suspected of being infected.

Of the patients in ICU, 117 required respiratory assistance, with 73 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 44 suspected of being infected.

There were 2,565 local infections today, comprising 2,480 Malaysians and 85 foreigners. There were also 323 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.2% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.

He also said one new cluster was reported today.
