2,342 new Covid-19 cases, 6 clusters

There are 2,810,689 cumulative cases.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 2,342 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

It is the lowest number of daily cases since April 21 last year, when 2,340 infections were reported.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,810,689.

Meanwhile, 184 patients remain in intensive care, 132 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 52 suspected of being infected; 87 patients require respiratory assistance, with 52 patients Covid-19 positive and 35 suspected of being infected.

There were 2,162 local infections today, involving 2,105 Malaysians and 57 foreigners, and 180 imported cases, comprising 114 Malaysians and 66 foreigners.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.5% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.

He added that six new clusters were reported today.
