
Of the new infections, only 87 (or 0.41% of the total) were cases in Category 3, 4 and 5, which require hospital treatment, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.
He also said 17 clusters were reported today.
The new cases comprised 21,234 local infections, involving 20,551 Malaysians and 683 foreigners. There were 81 imported cases reported today.
The cumulative number of infections now stands at 3,061,550 cases.
Noor Hisham said 8,517 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,860,954.
Of those in hospital, 199 patients remain in intensive care, 94 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 105 suspected of being infected; 115 patients require respiratory assistance, with 47 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 68 suspected of being infected.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) stands at 1.43, with Labuan having the highest R0 level of 1.90, followed by Sarawak (1.61), Sabah (1.60), Penang (1.44), Perlis (1.43), Pahang (1.39), Selangor (1.37), Johor (1.35), Kelantan (1.35), Kedah (1.35), Terengganu (1.34), Negeri Sembilan (1.34), Putrajaya (1.30), Perak (1.27), Kuala Lumpur (1.22), and Melaka (1.19).
