
Of this, 1,032 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 724 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 265, followed by Johor (213) and Perak (210).
A total of 1,339 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 43% of their total capacity of 885 beds.
ICU beds in four regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Selangor (83%), Putrajaya (83%), Johor (70%), Kelantan (69%), and Kuala Lumpur (54%).
A total of 216 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 24% of their maximum capacity.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds has exceeded 50% capacity in Selangor (118%), Putrajaya (106%), Perlis (98%), Kuala Lumpur (92%), Perak (90%), Kelantan (88%), Terengganu (78%), Pahang (70%), Johor (66%), Sarawak (64%), Penang (58%), and Sabah (51%).
In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity for Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients, non-critical beds were at 67% while 59% of ICUs were in use.
Four clusters were also reported yesterday.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 1.05.
