
Of this, 1,036 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 721 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 261, followed by Perak (193) and Penang (183).
A total of 1,371 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 44% of their total capacity of 876 beds.
ICU beds in six regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Putrajaya (100%), Kelantan (75%), Johor and Kuala Lumpur (73%), Selangor (58%) and Perlis (55%).
A total of 222 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 25% of their maximum capacity.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds has exceeded 50% capacity in Selangor (108%), Kuala Lumpur (98%), Putrajaya (92%), Terengganu (91%), Perak (89%), Perlis (88%), Sarawak (81%), Kelantan (76%), Melaka (80%), Johor (61%), Penang (60%) and Pahang (57%).
In terms of the total capacity of both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients at public hospitals, non-critical beds were at 67% while 58% of ICUs were in use.
There were also six clusters reported yesterday.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 0.97.
