
Details of today’s incident were still scant, but Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai confirmed that the incident occurred at a “fireworks disposal site”.
He added that he would confirm later whether there were any injuries.

Plumes of smoke could be seen around Sentul due to the explosion, with netizens taking to social media over the sound of the blast.
“Never heard that sound in my life. Was it an earthquake? Was it a thunderstorm? A bomb blast? Came to know it was because fireworks exploded,” said @shalinisgrid on Twitter.
Multiple videos of the incident were found on Facebook and Twitter, with one posted by @xnxthxrmxthxr95 showing some of the fireworks still going off as the smoke continued to rise.
“A line of cars in Sentul are currently on fire due to a fireworks explosion. The explosion was so loud The Fennel was literally shaking,” he said in a Twitter post, referring to a residential development in the suburb.
Earlier, it was reported that Sentul police were disposing of 1,059 boxes and 35 gunny sacks of firecrackers and fireworks of various types estimated to be worth RM4.1 million.
