Party president Maximus Ongkili said the party would continue to support GRS, but it would have to make its own decisions if a consensus could not be reached.
“We need to study the situation. Of course, as a member of the coalition, we will want to cooperate, but if a consensus cannot be reached then the party must make its own decisions,” he said at a press conference today.
Ongkili also revealed that talks had been held with leaders from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to discuss the formation of a coalition of parties from Borneo but no decision had been made.
He said that GPS had previously stated that it would be difficult to form a coalition with political parties from Sabah as the ruling coalition here also comprises Peninsular-based parties.
“Whatever it is, more discussions are needed and a new formula for the participation of parties from the Peninsular is necessary,” he said.
