Wife and young son watched in horror as a man on a motorcycle ambushed her husband and shot him repeatedly in his head.

The 36-year-old man was about to enter his Toyota Vellfire when four men on two motorcycles set upon him.
GEORGE TOWN:
A man returning to his car from lunch was gunned down by four men at point-blank range today at the Taman Intan traffic junction in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

In the 12.30pm incident, the 36-year-old man was approached by four men on two motorcycles as he was about to enter his Toyota Vellfire parked across the restaurant.

His wife and young son could only watch and scream as they were at the five-foot way of the restaurant as the incident unfolded, a source in the police told FMT.

Other lunch-goers who witnessed the incident saw the motorcycles arrive from a back alley before the man was ambushed, with one of the assailants shooting the man repeatedly in the head.

The gunman was said to be wearing gloves and also wore something over his face.

A forensic team later found eight bullet casings at the site.

Kedah police chief Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the deceased was wanted by police over suspected organised crime and drug-related activities, with one pending case under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

He told FMT the shooting would be investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Kedah police later identified the deceased as Murali Shunmugam, whose last known address was in Bukit Selambau, Kedah.
