Muhyiddin, who is alleged to have received RM1.3 million in bribes from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB), said Najib should not play “judge” and decide on the allegations levelled against him.
“I have issued a statement on the matter and do not wish to say more,” he said at a press conference when asked to respond to comments made by the former prime minister.
On Saturday, Najib questioned Muhyiddin’s claim that the latter was overseas undergoing cancer treatment during the period he was alleged to have received the bribes.
Najib cited several news reports from the same months in question, raising doubts over Muhyiddin’s explanation.
This came after former UKSB administrative manager David Tan testified on Friday that Muhyiddin had received RM1.3 million over three transactions on June 4, July 4, and Aug 23, 2018.
Muhyiddin has denied the allegations but said he was ready to be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He added that he had yet to be called in by the authorities.
“If MACC wants to call me in, they may do so. I’m not afraid because I speak the truth,” he said. “People are entitled to their own comments but I am not corrupt nor did I accept any bribe.”
Najib is on trial over 25 charges of abuse of power and money laundering involving 1MDB funds amounting to RM2.28 billion.
