Robber attacks victim with sickle, both end up dead

The robber, a foreigner, injured himself in the attack and died on the road while his victim, also a foreigner, died in hospital.

PETALING JAYA:
A botched robbery attempt at Taman Perindustrian Kepong this morning ended with the death of both the robber and the victim.

Police found the robber, a 50-year old foreigner, dead on the road with a sickle in his right hand. The victim, aged 48, also a foreigner, died in Sungai Buloh hospital at noon.

Gombak police chief Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said investigations showed that the suspect had assaulted the victim with the sickle inside a building in the area.

“The victim used a plastic chair to defend himself. At the same time, the suspect had accidentally injured his leg with the sickle during the fight. He then ran outside and was found lying on the road about 36 meters away.

The victim was sent to the hospital and died at 12.15pm. Police believe the motive of the incident was robbery with an attempt to cause death.
