It has nothing to do with posts, Saifuddin tells Zahid

The foreign minister says his colleagues are not fussing over ministerial posts as such positions are only temporary.

Foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah said the floods were the major cause of concern if a general election is called before the end of the year.
PETALING JAYA:
Foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah has rubbished talk that his fellow Cabinet colleagues from Perikatan Nasional (PN) were afraid of losing their ministerial posts in rejecting the call for the 15th general election (GE15) to be held this year.

Saifuddin, who is also the Pahang PN chairman, insisted that the floods were a major cause of concern, Malaysiakini reported.

The meteorological department has also predicted floods to strike the country at the year-end, he added.

“Ministers from PAS and Bersatu are not fussing over posts as these are only temporary. And these posts don’t belong to us, but the party,” he was quoted as saying.

“Our ministerial posts never cropped up during discussions.”

Saifuddin was responding to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who claimed that the 12 PN ministers in the current Cabinet were determined to keep their posts.

Zahid was referring to the ministers who had written to the King to state their stand against holding GE15 this year.

Saifuddin said even the opposition bloc was against holding GE15 this year. Pakatan Harapan had previously cited the monsoon season in arguing its case.

“So, who is it that is really pushing for the elections to be held during the floods?”
