
He said his record would show that he had worked with those from across the divide.
“When it came to the vaccination programme in Selangor, I spoke to the menteri besar, Amirudin Shari, and told him I didn’t care who got the credit, we had to work together to get as many people vaccinated as possible,” he said at a town hall gathering in Bukit Rahman Putra.
Selangor is under Pakatan Harapan.
Khairy said it did not matter who he had to work with, as long as he got the job done.
“That’s my philosophy. It’s simple, I will stretch my hand beyond the political divide to work for the people.”
However, the former Rembau MP said he would not let sleeping dogs lie if anyone stood in his way.
“If the state government, local municipality or anybody for that matter stands in my way, I will fight for you,” he said.
Khairy said that while BN lost in Sungai Buloh in the last three general elections, it would not deter him from putting his best foot forward.
“It’s not political suicide as some may think. I will work to win and serve the people of Sungai Buloh.”
Sungai Buloh has been a PKR stronghold since R Sivarasa won the seat in 2008. He successfully defended it in the 2013 and 2018 elections.
The other candidates in the Sungai Buloh contest are Ghazali Hamin (Perikatan Nasional), Akmal Yusoff (Pejuang), Ahmad Jufliz Faiza (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and two independent candidates, Nurhaslinda Basri and Syed Abdul Razak Long Alsagoff.
