Syed Saddiq declares RM1.9mil in assets

He said most of the assets listed were procured before and after he joined politics, including when he was youth and sports minister.

Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has declared assets worth around RM1.9 million.

Syed Saddiq, who will be defending the Muar parliamentary seat in the general election said the list of assets and liabilities listed was as of Sept 30 and the declaration was done in accordance with the Statutory Declarations Act 1960.

He added that most of the assets were procured before and after he joined politics, including when he was youth and sports minister.

A copy of the declaration sighted by FMT showed that Syed Saddiq has over RM2.8 million in total assets and more than RM900,000 in total liabilities, the difference of which makes up the RM1.9 million.

He also declared shareholdings in Albus Capital Sdn Bhd (50%), Ghost Kitchens Sdn Bhd (17%), and Act Now Sdn Bhd (2.5%).

The former Muar MP also listed two local properties, one each in Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur.

His cats, named Toby and Meow Meow, were listed as “invaluable”.

Syed Saddiq stated in the declaration that he received an allowance of around RM25,000 to RM30,000 per month when he was Muar MP, depending on his attendance in Parliament and travels.

When he was youth and sports minister between August 2018 and March 2020, he received a monthly salary and allowances of around RM55,000. His base salary was RM15,000 per month.

Besides Syed Saddiq, most of PKR’s 72 candidates have declared their assets, with deputy president Rafizi Ramli the first to do so. PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, declared their assets yesterday.
