PETALING JAYA:
The Indian community’s support for Barisan Nasional (BN) is growing, says its deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan.

Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, said this increase in support from the community was evident in several by-elections as well as in the Melaka and Johor state polls in November 2021 and March 2022.

“There is an increase in support for BN from the Indian community. In Melaka, for example, it went up by 28%. In Johor, this trend continued.

“The response (from the community) is very encouraging. In the last election (GE14), they stayed away from BN,” the former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar was quoted as saying by Bernama on the campaign trail.

“This time, they are supporting BN,” he said, adding he believed BN will get more votes from the community in GE15.

Mohamad, who is contesting the Rembau parliamentary seat, said he was confident of getting the Indian community’s support.

The Election Commission has set Nov 19 as the polling day for GE15 with early voting taking place on Nov 15.
