
KUALA LUMPUR: Three more individuals were charged in the sessions court here today with submitting RM123,100 in false claims in connection with the Penjana Kerjaya hiring incentive programme.
Insurance agent Isa bin Mohd Ismail, hairdresser Mohamad Mohamed Amin and housewife Mazlina Ali pleaded not guilty to the charges under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2009.
Isa was accused of one charge of submitting false claims of RM51,000 and Mohamad is facing two charges for allegedly submitting RM68,500 worth of false claims. Mazlina faces one charge of making a false claim of RM3,600.
The offences were said to have taken place between March 9 and June 29, 2021.
The court granted bail of RM5,000 in one surety for Isa, Mohamad was allowed bail of RM12,000 for his two charges, and Mazlina was granted bail of RM5,000.
They were were ordered to report to the nearest MACC office every month until the disposal of their trial.
The court fixed Feb 14 as the next mention date.
Yesterday, three other individuals were charged with submitting RM190,700 in false claims over Penjana Kerjaya.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said they arrested 45 people in different states over the course of last year on suspicion of making false claims and misappropriating Penjana Kerjaya funds.
The suspects consist of business owners, directors, managers, shareholders, engineers and executives.
