This comes after the completion of Phase 2 of the Putrajaya line from the Kentonmen station to Putrajaya Sentral.
Phase 1 of the line began operations last June with services between the Kwasa Damansara and Kampung Batu stations.
In an interview with Bernama TV today, Loke also said the government was committed to completing the MRT3 project.
“The MRT3 line completes the current Klang Valley Light Rail Transit (LRT) network, ensuring connectivity throughout (the city’s rail lines),” he said.
Loke also said the government wanted to reduce the cost of the project from RM50 billion to RM45 billion.
The 57.7km Putrajaya line serves a population of two million people. There are 36 stations along the line, including nine underground.
It is expected to have an initial ridership of about 104,000 passengers daily.
On issues surrounding the LRT system, Loke said more than 70 trains that were under maintenance will be put back into service in the third quarter of the year.
He said this would ensure a better frequency of trains and reduce the five-minute waiting time.
