PETALING JAYA: An egg importer has threatened to sue Azmin Ali for RM20 million in defamation damages for claiming that the company was awarded a contract to import eggs from India via direct negotiation.
J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd sent a demand letter to Azmin seeking a retraction of his statement and a public apology within seven days.
In denying Azmin’s claim last month, the company said the statement by the Bersatu leader was a “blatant lie designed to confuse the public”.
It also claimed that Azmin’s statement was meant to deflect attention from the corruption charges faced by Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
The company had previously issued a letter of demand to MCA president Wee Ka Siong after claiming that he had produced “misleading, misinformed and mischievous” statements on imported eggs from India.
