The fire affected three houses on Jalan Tembikai 17, Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Pasir Gudang fire and rescue department station chief Sarhan Akmal Mohamad said at the time of the fire, the two siblings, Azian Zainalabidin, 20, and Murni Atikah, 25, were sleeping on the top floor of their house.
“We received a call at 3.37 am. A total of 21 members from the Pasir Gudang and Johor Jaya stations were deployed to the location.
“The team that arrived at the location was informed about the presence of the two siblings inside the burning home.
“We immediately entered the house and while being rescued, both siblings fainted. We provided emergency first aid and brought them out in a semi-conscious state,” he said.
Sarhan said both were then taken to Sultan Ismail Hospital for further treatment.
He said a family of seven lived in the house. However, all the victims had managed to flee except for the two.
“Based on information from a neighbour, the fire originated from the garage of a house. However, we are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Several cars and three motorcycles were also damaged in the fire, he said.
