PETALING JAYA:
Electricity has been fully restored in several areas in Cameron Highlands after they were hit by a blackout for about two hours.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said the power outage was caused by an issue with the Bintang main intake substation.

“Our technical team is currently on site to carry out repairs. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused,” it said in a Facebook post at 1.13pm.

In an update at 3.05pm, TNB said power was fully restored to all affected areas and thanked consumers for their patience.

The power cut had led to many taking to social media to vent their frustrations.

One netizen, identified as Abu Al-Fatih, said the ATMs were not working.

“And there is no electricity at the petrol stations. (I am) stuck,” he said

Fakhrur Razi complained about people having to wait a long time at the petrol stations.

Facebook user August Li said almost the entire Cameron Highlands had no power supply.

Twitter user @AbuAtah said he was greeted by the blackout upon arriving at Cameron Highlands.

“I just reached and there is no electricity in Cameron Highlands. Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker?” he said, referring to Ramli Nor, who is also the MP for the constituency.

FMT has reached out to Ramli for comment.
