KUALA LUMPUR:
Former Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) senior deputy director Sabudin Salleh was convicted by the High Court here today on two counts of obtaining a total of RM200,000 in bribes to issue work permits.

Justice K Muniandy found Sabudin guilty on both charges, following a successful appeal by the prosecution.

Muniandy said sessions court judge Rozina Ayob was wrong in acquitting Sabudin on Sept 15, 2022.

He allowed the appeal and set aside the decision of the sessions court, and set Aug 15 for sentencing.

Sabudin, who was then senior deputy director of the DBKL civil engineering and urban transport division, had been charged with receiving bribes of RM200,000 in cash from Wong May Kuan, a subcontractor of Dusari Niaga tasked by DBKL with carrying out grinding and resurfacing work, from 2018 to 2020.
