PETALING JAYA: A tahfiz school hostel housing 20 male students at Kampung Medan in Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat, was almost completely destroyed in an early morning fire today.
All the students, aged between 13 and 17, managed to escape the blaze, which destroyed 70% of the hostel building, according to a Harian Metro report.
Selangor fire and rescue department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said they received a report just after midnight.
He said 18 personnel were dispatched to the scene and successfully put out the fire by about 12.55am.
“There were 20 occupants who managed to escape without any injuries,” he said in a statement.
