PETALING JAYA:
EPF CEO Amir Hamzah Azizan was sworn in as a senator before the Dewan Negara this morning.

This followed speculation that he will be made second finance minister in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet.

Amir, the former CEO of Tenaga Nasional Bhd, became EPF CEO in March 2021.

He took over the post from Tunku Alizakri Raja Muhammad Alias, who was appointed to helm the retirement fund in August 2018.

Prior to his appointment at TNB, Amir had also served as CEO of MISC Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, and Khazanah Nasional’s hospitality arm, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn Bhd, among others.

Also sworn in as a senator was Zulkifli Hasan, a former dean of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia’s shariah and law faculty.
