PETALING JAYA:
Selangor Football Club’s CEO, Johan Kamal Hamidon, has received a warning that he could face an acid attack, according to a report.

This comes a day after Selangor FC striker Faisal Halim was splashed with acid at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, near here.

A suspect in his 20s was arrested today.

Harian Metro quoted a source as saying that Johan received a phone call from an unknown person yesterday after visiting Faisal at the hospital.

The source said the caller warned Johan that he would be the next target of an acid attack and told the Selangor FC CEO to be careful.

“Johan lodged a police report after visiting Faisal, out of concern for the safety of his family and himself,” the source was quoted as saying.

Separately, Harian Metro reported that two members of the football club’s top management had lodged police reports out of concern they may be targeted.

The news report did not disclose if Johan was among the two complainants.

It quoted Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Jaafar as confirming the reports.

Faisal is being treated at a private hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

His acid attack came after Terengganu FC winger Akhyar Rashid was attacked by two robbers at his home in Kuala Terengganu last Thursday.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain urged the public to refrain from speculating on the attacks and said they were not linked to bookies manipulating football matches.
