PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor government today launched a draft of its proposed amended State Structure Plan 2035.

The document is intended to complement the First Selangor Plan 2021-2025 and manage the state’s future physical development.

Menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the draft reviews the existing Selangor structure plan that has been in place and unaltered since it was gazetted on Feb 2, 2017, Bernama reported.

He said the focus of the document is on developing suburban areas as a catalyst to accelerate existing developments.

In addition to Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Gombak and Sepang, the document sets out proposals to develop the state’s northern and southern regions.

Amirudin said the document also contains proposals in respect of ongoing economic planning for three regions – the Southern Selangor Integrated Development Region, the Sabak Bernam Development Area, and the Maritime Gateway Economic Development Zone.

He said the plan will serve as a reference for government agencies, NGOs, industry players and other stakeholders involved in the state’s development.

Its primary objective is to ensure state planning, policies and strategies are in alignment with international, federal and state standards.

The plan outlines 17 strategic directions, 73 policies and 522 initiatives. These will serve to steer the state’s development trajectory for the coming decade.

The draft Selangor State Structure Plan 2035 (Amendment) will be on public display from today until June 9.

The public may submit feedback, objections and appeals regarding any of the proposals contained in the draft.

“Public feedback and objections are highly encouraged to ensure the planning brings the desired benefits to the people and facilitates the implementation of all the development projects outlined,” Amirudin said.
