PETALING JAYA:
The national registration department (JPN) says a viral post on TikTok claiming that there is an identity card (MyKad) printing service in China is fake.

In a statement, JPN said that all MyKad applications and printing can only be done in Malaysia.

“Malaysians residing abroad are required to return to Malaysia to apply for their first MyKad (at age 12) or to replace a damaged or lost card,” it said.

The TikTok post by user @putihwhite01 claimed that the Malaysian embassy in China was printing MyKad, and named former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng as the person behind this “Projek MyKad.”

The department urged the public not to spread false information and to verify any news before sharing it to maintain national security and public order.
