2 Singaporean hikers reported missing on Langkawi mountain rescued

They are believed to have lost their way due to the darkness.

PETALING JAYA:
Firemen rescued two Singaporean men who lost their way while hiking up Mount Machinchang in Langkawi yesterday.

Padang Matsirat fire and rescue station chief Zaidi Lazim said they received a call regarding the hikers at 10.28pm, Bernama reported.

“Upon arrival at the location, the fire brigade was informed that two male victims, aged 23 and 25, were lost. They started climbing the mountain at noon and are believed to have gotten lost due to the darkness.

“We started searching for the two victims at midnight and managed to find them at 2.48am,” he said in a statement today.

The two men were successfully brought down to the foot of the mountain at 4.36am and handed over to the police.
