KUALA LUMPUR:
TNB Western Energy Bhd has filed a judicial review at the High Court to challenge a RM291.55 million tax assessment for the 2018 assessment year.

TNB Western Energy is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), via TNB Manjung Five Sdn Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, TNB said the notice of assessment from the Inland Revenue Board was dated Dec 10, 2024.

“On Dec 31, 2024, TNB Western Energy filed for a judicial review at the High Court to challenge certain aspects of the notice,” it said.

TNB said on Jan 9, the High Court granted an interim stay on all further proceedings, including the enforcement of the notice, until the full and final disposal of the judicial review leave application.

It said the High Court had scheduled the leave hearing for April 14.

“TNB will provide further updates on any significant development related to this matter,” it added.
