
Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the immigration department is fully cooperating in the investigation by providing documents and information.
“The immigration department will take action and will not shield any officers involved in misconduct.
“The home ministry takes the issue seriously and will not tolerate any breaches of integrity by its officers,” he said in a written parliamentary reply to Alias Razak (PN-Kuala Nerus), who had inquired about the latest developments in the case.
In October last year, it was reported that EAIC seized 156 social visit pass application files as part of its investigation into the syndicate, which allegedly facilitated the illegal entry of foreign nationals under the guise of medical visa.
However, after entering the country, they would disappear for several years to work illegally.
