
PETALING JAYA: Police have opened an investigation into an incident where a man was assaulted with a weapon, believed to be a cleaver, on Jalan Wong Ah Fook in Johor Bahru today.
Footage of the incident had gone viral on social media, showing the victim who sustained head injuries, along with the weapon and the suspect who was apprehended by the police.
The incident is believed to have occurred in front of a row of shops in the city centre, Harian Metro reported.
Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said a report was received at 2.52pm and that an investigation is under way.
“The suspect has been arrested and updates will be given once the investigation is complete,” he was quoted as saying.
Raub added that the victim was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment.
