PETALIN JAYA:
Police are urging motorists with dashcam footage of the crash that claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel in Perak to come forward as they seek more evidence in their probe.

Hilir Perak police chief Bakri Zainal Abidin said the authorities are particularly looking for recordings captured before and during the incident, which took place along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam on Tuesday.

“If there is a recording (dashcam), it will be solid evidence in this case,” Bernama quoted him as saying after attending the prosecution proceedings of the lorry driver involved in the incident.

“So far, with the help of the media, several public witnesses have come forward to give their statements. They will be of great assistance in this investigation.

“I urge more people to contact us. The information will be kept confidential.”

Bakri also said the investigation is not limited to human negligence or environmental factors.

Police are also focussing on technical aspects, including vehicle maintenance records and the condition of the lorry involved in the crash, he added.

As of now, 15 people, including the owner of the lorry company, have had their statements recorded to assist in the investigation.
