Harian Metro reported that the 24-year-old mother brought the toddler who was unconscious to Tampin Hospital at around 11pm, where a medical examination revealed bruises on the baby’s abdomen, back, and anus.

According to a source, initial investigations found that the woman had taken her only child from their home in Tampin to her 20-year-old boyfriend’s shop in Bandar Satelit, Pulau Sebang, at around 6.30pm yesterday.

She later went out to buy food, leaving the baby in his care

The woman claimed that she put her daughter – from a previous marriage – to bed at 10pm while her boyfriend tended to the shop.

She said she tried to wake the child at around 10.30pm to return home, but found her unresponsive.

The couple then took the baby to Tampin Hospital, where doctors confirmed that the child had died from her injuries. The body was sent to the hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem.

Melaka criminal investigation department chief Leow Kian Heong confirmed receiving a police report on the matter.

He said the couple would be remanded at the Alor Gajah magistrates’ court this morning to assist in an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
