The 29-year-old inspector from the Kuala Muda police headquarters was detained following two separate reports lodged on July 3 and 4, one of which was made to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), reported Berita Harian.
Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said preliminary investigations revealed that the inspector allegedly used his position as an investigating officer to obtain sexual services from women linked to the cases under investigation.
“The suspect has been remanded for four days to assist with the investigation and will subsequently be handed over to MACC for its probe,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(2)(f) of the Penal Code, which pertains to rape involving the abuse of authority to obtain consent.
The section provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and a whipping, upon conviction.
