PETALING JAYA: A total of RM2.4 billion has been set aside to “protect” Federal Land Development Authority (Felda); Rubber Industry Smallholder Development Authority (Risda); and Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) settlers and their families.
In tabling the 2026 budget, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the sum will cover 720,000 settlers.
He also said that the government will use RM120 million from the RM2.4 billion to continue to look out for the welfare of small-time farmers.
Anwar said part of the funds will be used to help fund the cost for oil palm smallholders to replace their old crop and encourage small-time farmers to produce latex.
He said that the agro-commodity sector has contributed close to RM90 billion to the nation’s gross domestic product.
“This achievement must be doubled via increasing automation and exploring new markets.”
