PUTRAJAYA:
The tourism, arts and culture ministry has revoked the bus operator licence of Kenari Utara Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd effective Sept 11, following the Gerik crash in June which killed 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.

In a statement, the ministry said the action was taken by the tourism commissioner in accordance with Section 8 of the Tourism Industry Act 1992.

On Nov 3, the Gerik magistrates’ court convicted Kenari Utara of two charges of breaching the licence conditions that prohibit transactions with unlicensed parties.

This followed the crash in Gerik on June 9.
