A 44-year-old man, believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, was found on the bed next to her; he was in critical condition with slash wounds to his neck and wrists.
District police chief Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the family of the 41-year-old woman, who worked at a supermarket, had been unable to contact her for three days.
The body was found at about 12:30am today after police went to the rented house, accompanied by her family and the house owner.
Firefighters were called to break down the door after it was found to be locked from inside.
The victim was found lifeless on a bed. Next to her was a 44-year-old man, believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, who was in critical condition with slash wounds to his neck and wrists.
“Initial investigations suggest that the man committed a criminal act resulting in the victim’s death, before allegedly injuring himself,” he said in a statement today.
The man has been remanded for seven days to assist in a murder investigation.
