PUTRAJAYA:
Only one of the late former finance minister Daim Zainuddin’s four children has got in touch with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to assist with an investigation, says chief commissioner Azam Baki.

Azam said the whereabouts of the three other children remain unknown, although he did not disclose which one of Daim’s children had responded to MACC.

He urged lawyers representing the trio to ensure that they turn up at MACC’s headquarters as soon as possible.

“Only one of Daim’s children has contacted us. We don’t know where the other three are,” he said at a press conference here.

Last week, MACC issued a notice saying it was tracking down four of Daim’s children: his daughter, Asnida, and three sons Wira Dani, Amir and Amin.

In 2024, MACC seized multiple bank accounts belonging to Daim’s widow, Naimah Khalid, and their four children.

Eighteen companies linked to them, including Ilham Tower Sdn Bhd and Selidik Jaya Sdn Bhd, were also seized.

Naimah is standing trial on a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice issued by MACC.

Daim was accused of committing the same offence, but the charge was dropped after his death on Nov 13, 2024.
